As a nutritionalist and health professional, I’m often asked what it takes to become a successful CEO in today’s business world. For many aspiring leaders, the path to success can seem daunting. But while the demands of the modern CEO can be daunting, they don’t have to be. In fact, there are a few key tenets that every millennial leader should be aware of in order to achieve success.

To start with, it’s essential to embrace technology. Technology is rapidly changing how we do business, and understanding how to use it to your advantage is key to staying ahead of the competition. It’s also important to be innovative and think outside the box when it comes to problem solving. The same-old, same-old approach won’t cut it in today’s market. Additionally, fostering collaboration and communication is crucial to creating an atmosphere of trust and respect.

Leading with integrity and embracing change are also key components of being a successful millennial CEO. It’s important to be honest, transparent, and ethical in your dealings, and also strive to create an open and inclusive workplace. Finally, be sure to be proactive about change and seek out opportunities to use it to your company’s advantage.

These are just a few of the key tenets that every millennial leader should be aware of. Being a successful CEO in today’s business environment is no small feat, but by embracing technology, being innovative, fostering collaboration, leading with integrity, and embracing change, you can start down the path to success.

1. Embrace Technology:

 Technology is rapidly changing the way we work, and leaders must be willing to embrace it, learn it, and use it to their advantage. Millennials understand the importance of technology and how it can be used to improve operations, productivity, and communication. 

One great example of embracing technology and transforming a business is the story of Amazon. When Amazon was founded in 1994, it was an online bookstore that used the internet to deliver books to customers all over the world. Over time, Amazon began to embrace technology, using it to develop and expand its services. They began to offer new products and services, such as Amazon Prime, and they implemented innovative solutions to customer service issues. By embracing technology, Amazon was able to expand and become one of the most successful companies in the world. Today, Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and technology, and it continues to use technology to grow and improve its services.

2. Be Innovative: 

Millennials are driven to think outside the box and come up with new ideas and solutions to problems. They understand that the same-old, same-old approach won’t cut it in today’s competitive business environment, and they lead by example. 

An example of innovation in the workplace is Google’s flexible working hours. They allow employees to work when they feel most productive, which has been shown to improve productivity and job satisfaction. This allows employees to work at their own pace, set their own hours, and still be able to complete their work. This type of innovation has helped to create a more productive and enjoyable working environment for employees.

3. Foster Collaboration:

Millennials recognize the importance of collaboration and communication and strive to create an environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork. They are also passionate about open communication and feedback, which helps create an atmosphere of trust and respect. 

Facebook provides a great illustration of collaboration in the workplace when members of a group work together to create a shared post. Group members come together to brainstorm ideas, share content, and provide feedback and constructive criticism. This collaborative process allows the group to create a post that meets the needs and interests of everyone involved.

4. Lead with Integrity:

Millennials understand the importance of leading with integrity and respect, and they strive to be honest, transparent, and ethical in their dealings. They also understand the value of creating an open and inclusive workplace. 

Apple has shown a lack of integrity in its supply chain in China, where workers are subjected to unfair wages and unsafe working conditions. This lack of integrity has had a negative impact on the business, as customers have become more aware of the company’s unethical practices and have become less likely to purchase from them. Apple’s example is a great illustration of how a lack of integrity in the workplace can have a detrimental effect on a company’s success.

5. Embrace Change:

Millennials understand that change is inevitable and often necessary for a business to remain competitive. They take a proactive approach to managing change, embracing it and seeking opportunities to use it to the company’s advantage.

6. Remember The Past:

As a millennial business leader it is important to look to the past when making decisions, as it can provide valuable insight and guidance. For instance, Bud Light recently failed in its latest marketing campaign by forgetting who their real customer base was. Instead of targeting their traditional customer base, the brand chose to use a trans influencer to try to capture a new audience. This was a mistake as it alienated their traditional customers who then stopped buying the beer. 

This serves as an important reminder for business leaders to always look to the past and consider their customer base when making decisions. Companies should not forget who their traditional customer base is and should always stay true to their core values and mission. By doing this, companies can avoid costly mistakes such as the one Bud Light experienced.
